Building a pathway to success for young trainees
building a pathway to success for young trainees

Twenty-year old Project Manager Trainee, Marian Samia, has completed her first eight-month rotation on the $632 million Campbelltown Hospital redevelopment, as part of the NSW Government Infrastructure Traineeship Program.
Graduating from Year 12 in 2020, Marian commenced a Bachelor of Paramedicine, with an interest in working for her community in public health. Unsure about the direction of her career path, she took a leave of absence were she found the traineeship program that would show her the importance of project management in delivering the future of high-quality healthcare.
“The experience on the Campbelltown Hospital redevelopment project has been life-changing. Working on one of the biggest projects in my local health district has confirmed my career path, and I look forward to forging a career in project management upon completion of my two-year program,” Marian said.
“The team at Campbelltown Hospital has shaped this experience for me. Everyone has provided valuable insight into their roles and responsibilities, solidifying my education with hands-on experience, mentorship and guidance.
“From site walks, report writing, regular meetings, I have developed skills in stakeholder management, budgeting, analytics, and more. It has been a great opportunity to gain varied job experiences that has allowed me to push myself and discover new skills”.
Passionate, skilled and committed, Marian has been an asset to the project team, and we wish her well on her next rotation. Find out more about the Infrastructure Traineeships
